Add a TXT record (any provider)
The general steps to publish DomainProof's TXT record, for any DNS provider not covered by its own guide.
Every DNS provider's dashboard looks a little different, but publishing a TXT record follows the same shape everywhere. If your provider is Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Vercel, or AWS Route 53, its own guide covers the exact screens — use this one for everything else.
The record DomainProof asks for is always two values, shown on the hosted verification page:
- Host (also called Name, or Record name) — something like
_acme-challenge.example.com. - Value (also called Content, or Data) — something like
acme-verify=abc123.
1Find your DNS provider's records page
Sign in wherever you manage DNS for the domain — usually the registrar you bought it from, or whichever host its nameservers point at (check your registrar's dashboard for the domain's current nameservers if you're not sure). Look for a section called "DNS", "DNS Records", "DNS Management", or "Zone Editor".
2Add a new record, type TXT
Most providers have an "Add record" (or "Add new record") button, followed by a Type dropdown — choose TXT.
3Enter the host and value exactly as shown
Paste the Host/Name and Value fields from DomainProof's record card into the matching fields on your provider's form.
One common gotcha: some providers want the host's full value (_acme-challenge.example.com), while others want only the part before your domain name (_acme-challenge) — they append the domain automatically. If your provider's Name/Host field says something like "without the domain name" or shows your domain as a fixed suffix next to the input, drop the trailing .example.com and enter just the prefix.
Leave TTL at its default — DomainProof doesn't require a specific value.
4Save, then recheck
Save the record, then go back to the hosted verification page and click Recheck (or just wait — it polls automatically every 20 seconds). DNS changes can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to become visible, depending on your provider.
