Add a TXT record on Vercel
Publish DomainProof's TXT record from Vercel's DNS records dashboard.
DomainProof detects Vercel when a domain's nameservers point at Vercel's own DNS (ns1.vercel-dns.com / ns2.vercel-dns.com) — meaning Vercel, not your registrar, is where its DNS records live.
The record DomainProof asks for is two values shown on the hosted verification page:
- Host — something like
_acme-challenge.example.com. - Value — something like
acme-verify=abc123.
1Open the domain's DNS records
From your Vercel team dashboard, open Domains in the sidebar and select the domain to open its settings page.
2Add a new record, type TXT
Fill out the DNS record form on that page (if this is the first record you're adding, you may need to select Enable Vercel DNS first).
3Enter the name and value
- Name — the prefix only, not the full hostname: drop the trailing
.example.comthat DomainProof's Host value ends with. For a host of_acme-challenge.example.com, enter_acme-challenge. - Type —
TXT. - Value — paste the Value exactly as DomainProof shows it.
- TTL — leave the default (60 seconds).
Click Add.
4Recheck
Vercel notes DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to fully propagate, though most updates show up much sooner. Back on DomainProof's hosted verification page, click Recheck, or wait for its automatic poll (every 20 seconds).
Where to next
- The hosted verification page — what the record card and recheck button are part of.
- Add a TXT record (any provider) — the same steps in general terms, if your domain isn't on Vercel DNS.
